Typing in a rush

First of all, if you have been sent to this blog from a Ukrainian porn site, please go away. If you are the person or bot sending people here from a porn site, please find someone else to bother.

My challah is in the oven  as I type this, and it will be baked just in time for candle lighting.  Because it's a bit chilly and Shabbat starts early, the loaves will have done their rising in a bit of a rush today.
It will be a tighter loaf than usual. I am sure that our guests will understand.

I have begun work on an atara that is the re creation of the ocean. I am building up the water in layers on silk gazar.
The text will be bobbing just at the top of the water just as a body does when swimming.
There are more layers of color to be added.

The long and draggy sick  that has been part of my life since Rosh Ha Shahah  has made certain kinds of higher thinking a bit difficult.  ( I may actually have a diagnosis soon) But I have used the  very low simmer of my brain to do things like mending.

The fabric along the soft fold of the collar on my son's shirt had worn and was dotted with holes.  I covered the worn strip with this really pretty vintage rayon ribbon.

I think it looks pretty spiffy.

I ironed a batch of linens including this pretty fingertip towel.  The quality of embroidery is just wonderful and would have been enough.

But the embroidery is on  a piece of linen that has really good tape work  added to the hem.

There was a revival of this work  in the 1980's produced by rote in places that pay very little for handwork.  This is not that kind of work.  there were clever hands and a clever brain at work on this piece of linen.

My fairly small brain is up to the job of making a baby blanket for a friend whose baby is due in a few months.  I made a bunch of rounds and am now doing the work of connecting them together.

This feels very much like the kind of graphic organizers /idea webs my kids were taught to use early in their essay writing careers.

Like nearly everything I do, it looks like the embodiment of chaos while in process and will be pretty good when completed.

Our chicken got cooked simply with fresh thyme and black pepper.

We will be eating blanched asparagus and a spiced cranberry cake for dessert.

Shabbat Shalom!

  1. Looking forward to seeing the water develop. I can already see the bobbing letters!
The ribbon on the shirt is just right. :-)
