Yesterday or perhaps it was the day before I went into my local thrift. They had a large selection of wedding dresses. I leafed through them because, why not?
And then I saw this dress.
It looked like my dear friend Shawna's wedding dress. I made the jeweled belt. Shawna's dressmakers added the two strips inside of the vee neck to make a bit more modest.
But then I began to doubt myself. maybe it is just a dress that was altered in a similar way. Maybe someone else made the belt. I hadn't remembered stitching on the huge rhinestones with gold thread.
So today I looked through my old photos just to double check. This is the belt I made. This is Shawna's wedding dress.
I feel like I have seen a ghost.
Of course Shawna's husband was right to donate the dress of his wife who is no longer living. Someone else should enjoy this beautiful dress that was the beginning of a beautiful marriage.
And yes, my heart is beating fast and I am all in a tizzy. Both things can be true at the same moment.
Shabbat Shalom!
