First, a bit of housekeeping:
A note about comments. I love comments from readers. They make me think about what I have written and frankly, I love the conversation.
I do not love comments that are designed to drive eyeballs to other sites. So,the comments from the bug extermination sites in Dubai, or the porn sites get tossed. Those are simply mildly annoying.
HOWEVER, posts from commercial tallit manufacturers accompanied by text saying things like,"For all your tallit needs visit my tallit site". Blech! that just feels awful. last night I sent an irate email to such a site. I did get an apology today but --blecch.
Today

is my father's seventeenth Yahrzeit.
Because I have just put two projects to bed I can now get to what some of my sewing friends call the "Tuit list", that is, the things that you put off until you get to it.
I love high end men's dress shirts. the cotton is just delicious. When my daughter was in high school I turned some beautiful dress shirts into peasant shirts for her. I still browse the thrift stores for good men's shirts.
Sometimes I just wear large men's shirts as night shirts. Sometimes Idart out some of the bulk at the waist.
This shirt which began life as a very large men's dress shirt was turned into a peasant shirt but the elastic on the sleeves needed to be refreshed. I had put off the task for about two years.

This lavender gingham shirt has gone through a few transformations.

I removed the collar a few years ago. The edge of the button stand had gotten frayed so I machine embroidered over the worn bits last summer . I also re cut the neckline last summer. Alas there were more worn out bits so I cut the neckline wide to make a peasant neckline and cut off the sleeves just above the sleeve placket. I added elastic the the sleeve edge and now it is complete until the next bit wears out.
The other day I found this in a local thrift store.

I was so happy to have found it. It's a a 1960s embroidered blouse made in Israel. I think it may be an Esther Zeitz despite there not being a tag. I ran into a friend right after I made the purchase. My friend wondered if my mother owned such a blouse. My mother didn't although she probably would have love to own one.
Agree it’s an Esther Zeitz- looks great on you. I have a few my aunt gifted me- maybe time to give away- happy to pass to you!!!!
